I couldn't fathom a better way to start my Final Blog of the 2016 Wedding Season, other than this Photo.
It is actual file footage, of myself, full Derp face, at the Hoover Wedding---
I met Sarah and Brett, about a month before their October Wedding. Both Sarah, and Brett live a few hours South of myself in Madison Wisconsin, and booked me well before being able to meet in person.
I knew little outside of the fact that Sarah and I ran in the same Circle in High school (Which, these days, feels like the Stone-age) and shared similar tastes in all things Vintage. Upon Meeting, it was clear that we somehow were ships passing in the night, many years ago, and could have easily became the most inseparable of friends.
Myself, Sarah, and Brett, met at my favorite local haunt (Luna Cafe) and I am pretty confident our bellowing laughs cleared the room! The connection we had between all 3 of us was electric, our jokes---- highly inappropriate. It was a home-run if I ever got one! Never, have I ever felt like I needed to purchase a duffle bag, Popcorn Popper, and footie P.J's, so I could have a sleepover, with people I just met.
Sarah and Brett, Live Happily in Madison Wisconsin, where Brett works as a Research Scientist at CIMSS (Cooperative institute for meteorological satellite studies) and Sarah is a Ombudsman for medicaid Members.
Sarah told me that she first met Brett at a wedding, in November 2012, where both of them were standing up for a mutual friend. Sarah became Smitten with Brett after he had given a speech about the Best Man, that had outlined how their relationship was, and that he too, had hoped to find a love as special as theirs.
Several months later, the respective parties had decided that Brett and Sarah ought to meet for a date. But Because of perspective job opportunities, things had not come to Fruition until October of 2013. After several missed opportunities, Brett and Sarah gave each-other a chance, on a double date. Brett and Sarah clicked immediatly, which is no surprise, given their many shared quirks, and raunchy senses of Humor.
Their first date went so well, Brett asked if their wedding had to be Catholic. ;)
True Story, Their wedding was not. In fact, Their Actual Wedding, took place at a court house, several months before their Wedding in front of Friends and Family. Sarah explained that for insurance reasons, they decided to legally wed, and get that taken care of before their formal wedding. Seeing as this was really for legal reasons, and was so informal, Brett and Sarah took the oppurtunity to make a joke of things, and without telling a soul what they were doing, or the officiating judge, they dressed as Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar (Of TLC's 19 kids and counting fame)
How their courthouse wedding hasn't become a Viral sensation, Is a Crime, if you ask me. Their Ironic Senses of humor towards the Mega Evangelical Patriarchy driven Duggar Family, made for a hillarious set of Courthouse Wedding Photos, and later, a family Mission of Statement of sorts, poking fun at the very "Old School" Duggar Values.
Cut to Brett and Sarah's big day. It was a Crisp, and Mild October Saturday at Green Bays Pamperin Park. Fall colors beginning to ripen, and the historic Pamperin park Hall, was transformed to a Mid-Century Modern Supper Club. Touches of Sarah and Brett, sprinkled throughout the Venue. Sleek Place settings, fine Silver, and Candy Cigarettes graced each table.
As an Ode to their Proud Wisconsin Roots, a classic "Old Fashioned" Bar was front and center. And if you grew up in Wisconsin at all, you would be flipping out over the recently re-issued "Jolly Good" Soda, which has been sorely missed by myself, and Friends who grew up drinking it.
Together, Brett and Sarah created the "flamingo Lounge and Supper Club", an intimate, unique Venue, and Tribute to their love for each-other, and their closest family and Friends.
All was well, and good, there was Joy, and so much laughter in the air. And finally, the Ceremony--- Surrounded by so much love, I watched through my Lens, as Sarah walked down the Aisle, to the classic Muppets Song "Rainbow Connection", as sung by Kermit the Frog.
I'm a sucker for Jim Henson. So, I ugly cried.
We all ugly cried.
The rest of the days activities filled with so much love, and laughter, Surrounded by their loving Families, I watched people, who I fell in love with upon meeting, dance the night away, in each others arms.
So, without Further Ado-
The Hoover Wedding.
